David heads the Forensic IT service in Melbourne. David began his computer forensics career in 1995 with the Victoria Police, Computer Crime Squad.
His areas of specialisation include:
- Computer forensic services such as data acquisitions, in the context of disputes and investigations;
- Analysis and evidence in intellectual property and piracy cases, particularly in relation to music piracy;
- Acquisition and examination of electronic evidence in workplace disputes relating to unfair dismissal, discrimination and privacy;
- Data acquisitions to secure books and records in formal insolvency appointments;
- IT security
His recent matters include:
- Whilst with Victoria Police, David was involved in numerous investigations; ranging from homicide, extortion, fraud and I.P. theft, to wrongful dismissal, monitoring compliance with company policy and data recover;
- After twenty years with the Victoria Police, David was lured to the corporate sector where he conducted IT security with VeriSign;
David began his computer forensics career in 1995 with the Victoria Police, Computer Crime Squad. During this time, he spent four years managing eleven speciality staff and the squad rapidly established itself as a leader in the world of computer crime investigation. David was responsible for creating and testing analysis tools, processes and policies that were cutting edge in their “new age” role as electronic investigators.
Before joining Ferrier Hodgson, David was the Senior Manager of the Computer Forensics division of Ernst & Young. He has experience in a vast range of investigations using the most reliable forensic and data analysis tools available. He is trained on both EnCase and Forensic Tool Kit (FTK) products.
David holds an Australian Government security clearance to the level of ‘Highly Protected’
