J. K. Heng commenced his career as a school teacher after graduating from The Malayan Teachers College, Johor Bahru in 1968. He furthered his studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (Hons.) degree from The University of Malaya in 1972.
Being the top graduate from the Faculty of Accounting and Business Administration, University of Malaya, he was awarded a scholarship to undertake post graduate studies in Australia. He obtained the Master of Commerce degree from The University of New South Wales and qualified as Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse & Co., Sydney in 1976. He commenced public practice in 1978.
Heng acts as auditor and advises many private and public companies on taxation, corporate restructuring and listing exercises. Heng has undertaken receivership and liquidation assignments for banks and finance companies and acts as Special Administrator for Malaysia’s National Asset Management Company (Danaharta).
Heng serves on the Board of the Malaysian Estate Staff Provident Fund and public list companies. He was a former lecturer of University Kebangsaan Malaysia.
