James became a Partner of Ferrier Hodgson in July 1994 and has practised in the field of turnaround consulting and restructuring since 1984. He has had extensive experience in assisting a wide variety of businesses in financial crisis and specialises in the retail industry.
James was the Joint Voluntary Administrator of the Sportsgirl Sportscraft Group, a major fashion retailer; the Administrator of Surf Dive N Ski, a specialist surf and streetwear retailer and was an integral part of the strategic team which restructured and then sold Harris Scarfe, the Adelaide based department store chain out of Receivership.
James has also been involved in the administration of other notable corporate collapses, including Ansett Airlines, where he acted for international aircraft lenders owed in excess of A$1.5 billion, Budget Rent a Car, Rothwells Bank and Estate Mortgage.
