Biography

Kentaro Mochizuki has more than 14 years experience in corporate recovery, turnaround and asset management. He was responsible for the start up of the Tokyo office in Japan and is now managing the Japanese practice.

Merger and Acquisition: Lead the indirect 19.97% acquisition of shares and the Strategic Alliance Agreement with PT Medco Internasional Tbk and the acquisition of the 20% working interest in the Senoro-Toili natural gas field for Mitsubishi Corporation Energy Group, and divestment of Kanebo Ltd. overseas textile business in Indonesia, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia.

Corporate Reorganisation: Participating strategically in the carve out of a division of a investment bank and financial restructuring of a consumer finance company who filed the Corporate Reorganization Act to maximize investment banks' recovery and playing a leading / coordination role for negotiations with the Receivers and various stakeholders.

Financial Restructuring: Advising and negotiating on behalf of Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) in financial / operational restructuring of a Korean telecommunication company in default to maximize NEXI’s recovery by playing a leading / coordination role among various stakeholders.

Prior to joining Ferrier Hodgson, Kentaro has worked for Mitsubishi Corporation, the largest trading firm in Japan for over 5 years where he was in charge for the asset management. He has done the restructuring for Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) in Indonesia & China; Asia Food and Properties (AFP) in Indonesia, China and Singapore; Advance Agro in Thailand; and Proppet’s merger transaction in Brazil.

Kentaro has in-depth experience in Indonesia and around Asia. As working for asset management of Mitsubishi Corporation, he has negotiated with various debtors for the recovery of the assets throughout Asia. He has also completed various assignments in the pulp and paper industry where he was in charge for the marketing of pulp and paper machinery of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. in the US, Europe and in Asia. He is fluent in English, Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia.
