Michael, a Malaysian Federal Government Scholar, began his career in 1960 with a firm of Chartered Accountants in London, and on qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1965, he worked with Turquand Young & Co (now known as Ernst & Young) in London, Bangkok and Sabah.
He then took employment with Cooper Brothers & Co (now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers) as manager of their Ipoh branch for a period of two years until 1970, before assuming contract appointment as Assistant Director of Inland Revenue with the Investigation Unit at the Malaysian Inland Revenue. During his tenure with the Revenue, Michael was responsible for large and complex investigations of local and multi-national corporations. He appeared for the Revenue with the Solicitor General of Malaysia at the Commissioners of Inland Revenue in 1974. Michael commenced public practice in 1978.
Michael’s predominant areas of public practice are in taxation, auditing and corporate and financial advisory services. He acts as auditor of public and private companies, and has developed expertise and experience to advise clients in all matters of tax planning and corporate restructuring. Michael has undertaken receivership assignments and acts as Special Administrator for Malaysia’s National Asset Management Company (Danaharta).
