Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England in 1993, Simon emigrated to Australia in 1995 and joined the firm of Ferrier Hodgson in Victoria. Simon was subsequently appointed as a Partner of the Victorian firm in 2002 and has over 15 years experience in the conduct of corporate advisory and corporate recovery assignments.
In 2001, Ferrier Hodgson was appointed as Voluntary Administrators of Pasminco Limited, at that time the world's largest integrated zinc and lead producer. Simon was an integral member of the Ferrier Hodgson team and assumed control for the day-to-day operations of the company within Head Office. This role included management of the finance function (in conjunction with existing Pasminco management), covering responsibilities including the preparation of forecasts, cashflow management, treasury and approval of supplier payments. In this regard, Simon continues as a signatory for payments made by Pasminco and is responsible for the approval of a variety of supplier payments and settlements of certain creditor payments.
In late 2004, Simon was assigned internally within Ferrier Hodgson to manage the merger of its Victorian and New South Wales partnerships, with the merged practice being successfully launched on 1 July 2005. Since that time, Simon has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer for Ferrier Hodgson, overseeing all aspects of the firm's operations, including responsibility of the Finance Department.
