This program is available in the Melbourne office only.
A Co-op placement is an excellent way to gain a first hand understanding of corporate recovery and our other service lines. Whilst the thought of something different like insolvency management may really interest you, we understand that you’ll have limited knowledge through your university studies. You can therefore use your experiences as a co-op to make more informed career decisions prior to graduating from university.
In addition to gaining a sound understanding of the type of work we do, you’ll have a great appreciation of our culture, work environment, the social aspects, and most importantly our people. You’ll also have access to key parts of our graduate development program, including on the job training and technical and interpersonal skill development.
Co-op employment is for twelve months and placements usually commence with our graduates at the beginning of February each year. We also actively recruit some of our graduates via our Co-op program.
To be eligible for a Co-op placement, you must:
-
Be studying a Commerce/Business degree with an Accounting major
-
Be in your penultimate year of your degree
-
Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
-
Be available to commence work with our graduates in February
-
Complete all sections of the application form, attach your CV (including names of referees), covering letter and academic results
Please refer to our Events and Key Dates section for closing date for applications.
Co-op recruitment process
Application screening |
Applications are screened by Human Resources and based on our recruitment criteria first round interviews are determined. Recruitment criteria includes: - employment / work experience
- involvement in extra-curricular activities including sporting and community activities
- secondary and tertiary academic results
- demonstrated interest in business and knowledge of the industry
|
First round interview |
We understand that selection is two-way. The process consists of an interview and an open discussion, which is designed for both parties to get the most out of the experience. You will be asked some behavioural-based interview questions along the way. Human Resources, or a Supervisor or Manager of the Firm usually conducts first round interviews. |
Second round interview & office tour |
Successful applicants will be short-listed for a second interview based upon first round interview performance, demonstration of industry knowledge and our recruitment criteria. If not already supplied, you will need to bring an original academic transcript. This stage involves an interview with a Senior Manager or Partner of the Firm and a tour of our offices with recent graduates or current co-op placements. |
Reference check |
Further short-listing occurs and successful candidates are reference checked where appropriate prior to making employment offers. |
Offer of employment |
Upon making final decisions, verbal offers are made. A formal employment agreement is then issued which outlines the terms and conditions of the employment offer. Human Resources and other staff involved in the recruitment process are available to discuss any post-offer queries and we encourage you to call as many times as you wish. |
Accepting our offer of employment |
We follow a Recruitment Code of Practice, which indicates time frames for responding to employment offers. |
