George Georges, Brendan Richards and Morgan Kelly were appointed joint and several Receivers and Managers of the Group on 14 October 2009 pursuant to the provisions contained in a registered debenture charge created by the Group.
Our appointment followed the appointment of Mr Geoffrey Handberg and Mr Robert Moodie of Rogers Reidy as joint and several Administrators of the Group on 14 October 2009.
Founded in 1979 as Mannway Transport, the Group is an established leading provider of contract logistics with a business base incorporating the Eastern Seaboard and SA. With headquarters in Melbourne, the Group offers integrated distribution centers and transport services over five states. The Groups employs approximately 300 staff, operates a fleet of 345 vehicles and has an annual turnover of circa $70m.
The Mannway entities that we have been appointed over are:
- Mannway Intermodal Terminals Pty Ltd
- Grasten Pty Ltd
- Mannway Fleet Pty Ltd
- Mannway Logistics Pty Ltd; and
- MIT Victoria Pty Ltd
Since their appointment, the Receivers and Managers have been continuing to operate the business on a “business as usual” basis with the intention of completing a sale as a going concern. Despite an enormous collective effort between the Receivers and Managers, senior Mannway Group employees and our primary customers, we regret to advise that we have been unable to sell the Mannway Group’s business and assets as a going concern.
Accordingly, the Mannway Group will cease to trade as of close of business 18 December 2009.
For any inquiries related to services provided during the Receivership period, please contact Ms Courtney Davies of our office on 9604 5620. Should you have any queries regarding any pre-appointment claims, you should contact the Administrators, Rodgers Reidy in the first instance on (03) 9670 8700.
