The bar and gaming operations of the Kyneton Bowling Club were closed yesterday by the club’s Receivers.
Discussions regarding the future of the bowling facilities are continuing between representatives of the club and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
The Receiver, Mr Brendan Richards of Ferrier Hodgson, said the closure of the bar and gaming facilities was disappointing but unavoidable given the losses the club was sustaining. Three fulltime and 15 casual positions have been affected by the closure, which is to take effect immediately.
Mr Richards said he is continuing to work with the local council to oversee an orderly handover of the bowling club venue.
“The shire will be holding discussion with representatives of the club regarding ongoing access to the bowling and changing facilities,” Mr Richards said. “I understand that bowling events planned for the club have been rescheduled to other venues.
” Ferrier Hodgson was appointed Receivers and Managers of the club on Wednesday February 24.
