Case Study - Reconstruction of IT records
Background
- We were appointed Liquidator to a privately owned company in the building industry
- On our visit to the company it was found that most books and records were either removed or destroyed
- A forensic review of the PC on site revealed that most applications and documents were installed/created just the day before, clearly indicating some anomalies
Ferrier Hodgson Involvement
- An application for a search and seize warrant was sought from the Court, resulting in a raid on the director’s home
- Various books and records were found as well as three computers
- Images were taken of these PC’s which later assisted in the reconstruction of all management accounts
- It was also later found that there were some $1.2 million of outstanding debtors, which was later collected in favour of the creditors
- We claimed void dispositions based on the EFT information obtained from the computer images
