Service: Forensic IT

Background

  • We were engaged by a financial services company to recover “lost” data
  • Differences between the two directors of the firm led to the one erasing and formatting the two company computer hard drives which contains all client data

Ferrier Hodgson Involvement

  • Forensic “images” were taken of both company computers
  • The partitions to both these computers were reinstated

Outcome

  • All company data was recovered and provided to the company
  • It was found that the target made a copy of all client information before deleting it
  • Civil actions for losses suffered and criminal actions for intellectual property theft are currently pending
