Azurium’s Head of Advanced Analytics, Dr Ian Tho, was chosen by a distinguished panel of peers and judges from the industry’s recognised body, the Institute of Analytics Professionals, Australia (IAPA). Ian was awarded as one of Australia’s Top 10 of Analytics Leaders at an awards ceremony in Sydney last month.
This leadership award recognises the role of a leader in Analytics, who inspires and influences other analytics professionals for continued excellence and performance. Dr Tho was judged based on evidence for distinguished performance in four key areas: strategy and impact, influence and advocacy, innovation and improvement and team growth and leadership. This prestigious rank was in addition to Ian’s nomination in the Institute of Analytics Professionals, Australia’s (IAPA) 2018 Australian Top 25 Analytics Leaders.
Dr Tho’s ranking reflects his standing in the market and excellence in delivering outstanding value, championing analytics, his mentoring of younger professionals and for his continued advocacy of the need for insight-driven decision making across all industry sectors.
Annette Slunjski, General Manager of IAPA says “Analytics is no longer a large organisation’s secret weapon. All businesses stand to benefit from analytics-led insights. The inaugural cohort of top 25 leaders in analytics spans all industries from financial services, utilities and telco to eCommerce, education, software, IT and government. Consulting organisations are also strongly represented.”
Dr Tho commented “I’m privileged to be selected by the IAPA and rewarded for the work we have done in the analytics field. Inventing an Australian patent “System & Method for modelling predictions of sales volume and amounts” that accurately predicts customer preferences and behaviour using mathematics and analytics was a big milestone. This accolade is great recognition of the strides forward we are taking in utilising analytics to their full potential.”
Amongst those ranked 1 to 10 were:
1. Matt Kuperholz, Chief Data Scientist, PwC
2. Sandra Hogan, Group Head, Customer Analytics, Origin Energy
3. Jeremy Moon, Director Digital Procurement, Department of Finance, Services and Innovation
4. Ashok Nair, Head of Data and Analytics, QBE
