Experience

Morgan has extensive experience in advisory, workout and insolvency across a wide range of industries. This experience has involved formal appointments, expert industry reports and informal advisory roles in businesses ranging in size from SMEs to multinational organisations. Morgan also has significant experience working throughout Asia, having worked in Asia for more than four years on domestic and cross border Insolvency and Restructuring engagements, across ten jurisdictions. These assignments included advising corporates, financiers, government agencies and the World Bank / IMF.

Morgan is a Personal Property Securities Act (2009) (PPSA) subject matter expert, and regularly conducts training sessions on this topic for financiers and ARITA. Morgan is also frequently engaged by financiers and corporates to advise on their PPSA risks and compliance strategies.

Recent major projects

Recent experience includes acting in an advisory capacity to lenders and subsequently carriage and conduct of the Receivership of the Hurlstone Earthmoving Group, operating in Australia and New Zealand, conducting civil engineering, earthmoving and quarrying services for infrastructure projects in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

In 2014 and 2015 Morgan was also appointed Receiver and Manager to Bowditch Earthmoving, a significant Hunter Valley based Mining Services Operator and Big Rim in Central NSW.

In 2011, Morgan was also appointed Receiver and Manager to the Icon Group of Companies, including 11 leasehold hotels across the Sydney metropolitan area with debts exceeding $60m and in 2015 acted as Receiver and Manager to the Bourne Group, comprising four trading venues, with a debt of $10m. From 2010 to 2015 Morgan has been appointed Receiver and Manager to 40 freehold and leasehold hotels including profile venues such as the Annandale Hotel and the Sandringham. Morgan was also the designer and project manager for SecuriSearch, a mobile phone application launched by Ferrier Hodgson for marketing use of the Personal Property Security Register (PPSR).
